The Magical Wordplay of One Thomas W.P. Slatin

I still dream from time to time by Thomas WP Slatin

As someone who has been blogging on and off since 2003, and more seriously since 2008, I have read quite a few beautiful posts over the years. But, in July 2020, I came across perhaps one of the most stunning pieces I’ve ever come across in my decades on the internet. A good man by the name of Thomas W.P. Slatin offered a link to one of his own favorite pieces of his, called “A Little Ghost for the Offering.”

The piece talked about Thomas and his favorite tree from his childhood. It was his safe place, his inspiration, and sadly, now only the stump remains. The picture on the  My first thought was that it sounded reminiscent of Allen Ginsberg, which is interesting as Thomas was actually mentored by the famous writer and poet! Speaking of Thomas’ mentorship with Ginsberg, you can read all about that in “It’s Been Awhile Since I’ve Dreamed This Much.”

After reading perhaps the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read in my life, I struck up a conversation with Mr. Slatin. Since then, he and I have become best friends, all because of something he posted on his website, and on my Twitter #writerslift thread. See? Blogging really can take you places! You never know what you’ll write that will attract some awesome people!
